W dniach 18-21.03.2009 w Atenach odbył się Światowy Kongres Osteoporozy i 9 Europejski Kongres Kliniczne i Ekonomiczne Aspekty Osteoporozy i Osteoartrozy. Do najciekawszych tematów kongresu należała ocena bezpieczeństwa długoterminowego leczenia bisfosfonianami a zwłaszcza ryzyko złamania zmęczeniowego i jałowa martwica żuchwy.
